Rango: Movie Review - Yesterday I had the satisfaction of seeing an early screening of Rango. It was very enjoyable! This flick was a lot of fun. The gags all hit the right marks, the storyline was solid, sweet and not too predictable, and the visuals were excellent.There were instances that this movie looked 100 percent photo real.
Exceptional job modeling and texturing and lighting on this film. The minute attention to detail in the world the picture built had me in wonder throughout a lot of the movie. The animation was enjoyable and eccentric. Often over-the-top but sometimes subtle and full of meaning. The only small nitpick was the mouths on a number of the characters. In the attempt to make the animals seem more like the animals they were representing the mouths were rather small and sometimes the sync was a bit off. At a little over an hour-and-a-half, at times it felt it was somewhat too slow paced. I looked at it more so that they were striving for the slower feel of some classic westerns. I thought the long stretches of very little dialog, epic music and visuals, and excellent photography in the long run worked in the flicks favor.
The rest of the audience dug it too. I believe the youngest person in the theater was about 6 and the oldest was likely in their 70s and absolutely everyone was entertained.I was kind of surprised what they could get by with in a Pg picture. I’m not a prude at all, but there were plenty of adult jokes tucked in there to give me some laughs. Number of lite swear words, some references to more adult themes, but all round pretty tame and entertaining. Watch free movies online, including Rango.
Kudos to the film makers. If this flick does not win awards I don’t know what I have confidence in anymore. This is one of the most pleasurable pictures I’ve seen in a long time. Watch Rango at the free movie site.
